Gardening is a favorite hobby of the innkeepers.
The gardens have been featured on the Matthews Historical Foundation Home and Garden Tour. It was a beautiful day and many visitors enjoyed our labor of love.

The Deer ...
We love working in the garden, but the deer can be a problem. The deer are fun to see wandering through the yard, BUT it is a challenge to keep them from eating our favorite shrubs and flowers. Will's brother Bob gave us this recipe to spray on the plants. So far it has been very effective.
"Bob's Keep The Deer Away" Recipe 1/3 cup dish soap 3 eggs 1/2 cup water A small bottle of Tabasco Sauce 3 beef bouillon cubes Mix all ingredients in a blender. Strain into a gallon jug and fill with water. Fill spray bottle (it will clog a pressure sprayer) and spray any plant you don't want the deer to eat. Repeat after rain. |
